The Great D 'e' bate: Books or e-books?

It was not until I started this blog that I became aware of the disdain that 'e' reading is held in across the bookish community.
Blissfully unaware, as I was, of the debate raging between traditionalists and technophiles regarding the best way to access reading matter, I had no qualms about calling my blog after my cheeky and troubling addiction to my own Kindle.

You see, I innocently assumed that reading was, well, reading, regardless of whether the words you read were printed in ink or pixels.

Even with the veil lifted from my eyes and after seeing many pinterest and facebook quotes about the merits of a 'real' book over my humble Kindle, I remain firm in my conviction that it simply does not matter how you get your reading fix. The important thing is to get it.

  1. I agree about reading being reading and just get on with it.
I have to confess to originally being a print book fanatic but after being given an e book before a short hospital stay, I am a convert. And willing to tell anyone else of the joys/benefits of e reading.
If you still want a "print book fix" you can still go to the book shop and buy one - it is not a case of one or the other. Just read!
My library is loved and an important part of my home as it contains all the "friends" accumulated over my lifetime but I can't carry it with me.

    1. Thank you for your comment, we are, it seems, on the same page! I do have one book strategy that separates print from electronic. When I come across a 'forever' book (one that is seriously good) I keep an eye out for it in print to add to my physical library. Hopefully one day I will have a library of 'friends' my children can read without searching through all the dross on my Kindle!
